The Circuit Clerk maintains records of the Circuit Courts of the county, which include Domestic Relations, Civil, Criminal & Juvenile Divisions. The office also records all real estate documents. Any conveyance that affects the title to lands within the county is recorded here.
The primary duties of the office regarding the courts are filing and docketing pleadings and the issuing of summons and subpoenas. Court records/documents are entered into the Contexte system through the Administrative Office of the Courts.
All liens are also recorded in this office (ex: materialmans, mechanics & laborers liens), state and federal tax liens, judgments of all kinds, and bonds (ex: notary, public official bonds & deputations).
The Circuit Clerk’s office also assists in the courtroom and is responsible for the jury selection process mandated by the courts.
